Any employee can be dismissed at any time as long as they receive reasonable notice or pay in lieu of notice.
When an employee is dismissed, laid-off or restructured out of a job without reasonable notice or pay in lieu of notice, they are wrongfully dismissed.
Under certain circumstances an employee may not be entitled to reasonable notice, such as when they have an employment agreement that specifies their entitlement upon termination of employment or where they are subject to a collective agreement.
